![Burke & James Grover 8x10 camera + 240mm F5.6 lens in copal #3 shutter + holders]()
This Burke & James camera was made in Chicago IL, USA in the 60's and 70's. It is a combination of a wooden camera and high grade aluminum hardware monorail camera. This camera just came off our work bench where we checked out all functions and tested the bellows.
The aluminum parts on this camera are said to last a lifetime, and in fact, this camera, has seen some use and some tarnish, but all metal fittings are in good working condition and will polish up beautifully if someone ever wanted to.
This camera has fully articulated movements and features all the movements you can think of in a view camera both front and rear standards, as well as axis AND yaw free movements in front standard:
Rise
Fall
Tilt
Swing
Shift
Tripod base tilt option
Max Bellows draw 22+ inches (1-2 inches longer when front swing arms used as extension)
All knobs are present and everything locks down as it should.
Back easily mounted in vertical or horizontal positions.
Camera Condition:
Camera is used and shows some light sings of use, with scuffs and marks throughout, no major issues to report, just normal/regular use
Original bellows shows use but is flexible, LIGHT TIGHT TESTED and easily extends to the max of the cameras ability as well as for use with all movements the camera offers
All knobs lock tightly, no issues to report
Upgraded gridded ground glass is clean and bright
Film holders are older style wooden holders and are tested light tight
Lens features and condition:
Komura Komuranon MC 240mm F5.6 in Copal #3 shutter
The 240mm focal length is a moderate wide angle of view on 8X10 (similar to 35mm lens on 35mm format cameras)
Modern, plasmat design, multicoated, in a modern shutter lens - same lens design as the Schneider Symmar S and Rodenstock Sironar N of the era and offers excellent performance all around, as you would expect from a multicoated modern lens
Shutter fires nicely on all speeds
GLASS - glass is generally clean aside from some minor internal dust specs
Lens is mounted on a nice 6X6 to 4X4 adapter board.
